Carter Healthcare to help answer the call
August 25, 2016 -
Every two seconds in Oklahoma someone has a need for blood. With the recent request for blood from Louisiana to the Oklahoma Blood Institute, there is a greater need for blood donors. To support the need for more blood, Carter Healthcare is hosting its first blood drive on Wednesday, August 31 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

“It is exciting to be able to provide an opportunity for not only our employees but also community members to give back to the community,” said Kristin Ewing, public relations at Carter Healthcare. “The Oklahoma Blood Institute provides blood to more than 140 hospitals and medical facilities in Oklahoma and like us, these institutions play a key role in keeping Oklahomans healthy. With the situation in Louisiana, the Oklahoma Blood Institute was asked to help meet Louisiana’s need for blood which has in turn diminished their supply. It is important for our entire community to help them replenish their supply.”

In addition to having the blood bus, The Saucee Sicilian food truck will be serving lunch between 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Carter Healthcare parking lot. Community members can schedule a time to donate blood by visiting https://www.yourbloodinstitute.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/208799. The blood bank will also accept walk-ins the day of the event.

Carter Healthcare is located at 3105 S. Meridian Avenue in Oklahoma City. Parking will be available in their parking lot during the blood drive.
